Coloring Book has anti-littering message
This project reintroduces a coloring book that made its debut in 1987 but is as current today as it was then. Its message is simple: Everyone needs to do their part to keep litter off the streets. The project’s logic is only a little more complicated: “Teach the children and they will go home and teach their parents not to litter. ”

FOCUS ON LITTER Photo Contest
Healthy Communities of Brownsville Environmental Trendbenders invited the residents of Brownsville to participate in our Focus on Litter Photo Contest in an effort to create awareness of the litter problem in our city and to work to eradicate this problem to make Brownsville the clean city we all want and deserve.
The contest was divided into two categories: ADULT or STUDENT. We had over 300 entries and the entries were displayed at Sunrise Mall. All photos were taken within the Brownsville city limits. The photos were judged by independent judges who based their scores on the anti-litter message, severity of the photographed litter problem, originality of photo, photographic technique, the quality of photo and originality of title and caption. The awards ceremony was held during the celebration of Earth Day, on April 22, 2010 -
